Websites, AI automation and security for handymen, painters and small remodelers in Michigan
A website for the small jobs the big contractors skip.
Every homeowner keeps a list of small jobs that the big contractors will not take. I build, host and look after a site for handymen, painters and small remodelers, with a clear page on what you do and what you don’t.
No set-up fee. Renews monthly; cancel with 30 days' notice.
Built, hosted and looked after for $49 a month, billed monthly. No set-up fee. Month 1 is charged when you start.
I’m Kevin Ferron. Through Kevin Ferron Tech Consultancy & Digital Agency (KFTCDA), based in the Detroit metropolitan area, I build, host and look after websites, set up AI automation, set up account and device security and build fixed-price software for handymen, painters and small remodelers in Michigan.
Five example layouts for a handyman’s site. The business is invented, and every layout is fully customizable: yours is designed with you on the intake call.
What the site can have for handymen, painters and small remodelers
These are examples of what the site can have. There is one enquiry form, and the pages are agreed on the intake call.
What you do and don’t do
For example, a page that lists the jobs you take and the ones you send elsewhere, so the right calls come in and the wrong ones don’t.
A page for each kind of work
For example, a page each for painting, repairs and small remodels, agreed on the intake call.
A small-jobs enquiry
The enquiry form can ask for the address and a list of the jobs, and sends each request to you.
How it works
1
Ask and start
Send a short enquiry with the form. I reply within 24 hours. Use the link to start. No set-up fee. Month 1 is charged when you start.
2
Send what I need
You send the words and photos, and the intake call sets out exactly what I need. On the intake call we agree the pages and the enquiry form.
3
Build, preview, live
I build it, and you see it before it goes live. From then on I host it, keep it updated and fix what breaks, and I make the small updates you ask for.
A site built for you: I build it from what you send me, and you see it before it goes live.
Hosting and looking after it: Hosting, backups, security updates and fixes when something breaks are part of the monthly price.
Small updates: Changes to text, photos, hours and prices after launch are included. New pages or features are quoted separately.
Fast, and built for local search: Pages that load quickly on a phone, set up for local search, with an enquiry form that sends each request straight to you.
Online booking on Square Appointments: I set it up on your own Square account: up to 5 services, your availability, a deposit taken through your own Square account, reminders, an embed on your site and a link from Google, and one test booking, recorded.
Google Analytics events: Every site on the plan sends Google Analytics events for taps to call and email, the enquiry form, clicks to book where the site has Square booking, directions and pages, to a property that you own, at no extra cost. See the events→
A privacy page: A short privacy page on your site that says, in plain words, that the site uses Google Analytics.
Me, directly: No account manager and no junior bench. You write to me and I answer.
AI help with small-job lists and quotes
The site brings the enquiry in. A few assistants can then do the office work behind it, each with one job and only the tools it needs, and a person approves anything that goes out.
Likely first jobs: Screen the small-jobs list; One quote for the whole list; Lead-safe paperwork.
Reviewer
Checks each draft against what you do and don't do (no wiring, no licensed plumbing, the licence threshold), the price book, the lead-safe procedure for homes built before 1978 and your voice.
Never without a person
No estimate or customer message goes out without a person's yes. No assistant accepts a job that needs a licence the business does not hold, or calls an older home's paint lead-free without a test or a record.
What the rules say, for handymen, painters and small remodelers
Does a Michigan handyman need a license?
Residential builder and maintenance-and-alteration work (carpentry, roofing, siding and similar trades) needs a Michigan license unless an exemption applies. One exemption is a whole project under $600, not split up to avoid the license (MCL 339.2403). Painting is not one of the licensed crafts. This is not legal advice, so check the current rules with LARA.
In Michigan, residential builder and maintenance-and-alteration work (carpentry, roofing, siding and similar trades) needs a state license unless an exemption applies; one exemption is a whole project under $600 (MCL 339.2403(f)). If you hold a license, your site can show the number. This is not legal advice; check the current rules with the state.
Yes. A page on what you do and don’t do is a page of words, and the intake call is where we agree it.
Yes. Painting, repairs and small remodels can each have a page, agreed on the intake call.
It can mark each item on a list as yours, one to refer, or one that needs a licensed trade, using the rules you set, and you decide. Michigan lets a small project under $600 skip the builder license if it is not split up (MCL 339.2403). This is not legal advice.
Yes. It drafts the quote from your own price book, and you approve it before it goes.
If it mostly needs to be faster and easier to find, the website speed and search fix is a one-off job at $299. If the platform is the limit, this is the rebuild.
No set-up fee. Month 1 is charged when you start. It renews automatically each month. You can cancel any time with 30 days' notice.
Me. I read every enquiry myself and reply within 24 hours.
