Included in the plan
The analytics every site comes with
A site is only worth having if it brings you calls and enquiries. Every site on the plan counts the taps and clicks that lead to them in Google Analytics, so you can see how many people tried to call, email or book, how many sent an enquiry, and which pages did it.
It is part of the plan, at no extra cost.
Month 1 is refunded if you cancel before launch.
The events every site sends
These are the standard events. Each is a named action in Google Analytics, and each one you can see in your own reports. Automatic events are counted by Google Analytics itself. Added events are ones I put on your site. An event records a tap or a click, not that a call or a booking happened.
| Event | When it fires | What it tells you |
|---|---|---|

page_viewAutomatic | When it firesAny page of the site loads.Sends: page_location, page_title | What it tells youWhich pages get seen, and how people reach them. |
clickAutomatic | When it firesA visitor clicks a link that leaves the site (an outbound click).Sends: link_domain, outbound | What it tells youWhich other sites, such as your social profiles or reviews, your visitors go on to. |
Google Analytics also sends a few of its own events: first_visit, session_start and user_engagement. Of its Enhanced Measurement features I leave on page views, scrolls, outbound clicks, file downloads and video engagement where the site has any, and I switch off form interactions, so the enquiry form is not counted twice, and site search.
How setup works
You send me your Google Analytics 4 measurement ID (it starts with G-) and add me as an Editor on that property.
If you don't have Google Analytics yet, I set up the property in your own Google account with you on the intake call.
Either way the property is in your account and stays yours. If you leave, you keep it and its history.
In the property I switch off Enhanced Measurement's form interactions and site search, mark generate_lead as a key event and register the custom dimensions the events use (link_location, form_id, error_type, service, area).
I turn on the events before the site goes live, and the test enquiry on launch day shows in Realtime.
Events for your business
On the intake call we also agree custom events for what matters in your business, such as which service a visitor picks on the quote form. They are written into your events sheet and are part of the plan.
Your events sheet
This page is the list of standard events. You also get a filled-in copy for your business: your domain, your measurement ID, the standard events and your custom ones, so you know what is being counted.
What the events do and do not include
- An event never includes what a visitor typed into a form, a phone number, an email address or the address of a page with personal details in it. Its details are fixed values, such as where on the page a button was.
- Google Analytics itself uses a cookie with a random ID to tell visitors apart, and works out an approximate location from the visitor's IP address. Site search is switched off, because what people search for could be personal.
- A short privacy page on your site that says, in plain words, that the site uses Google Analytics. It is a description of what the site does, not legal advice, and I make no promise about the rules that apply to your business or about cookie banners.
